A subsidiary of Pleasant Travel Service, a family-owned and operated company; Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts (HH&R) has owned and managed the Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui since 1982 and the Royal Kona Resort on Hawaii's Big Island since 1984.
HH&R is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service, and to helping guests create truly memorable vacations. HH&R provides the best quality, service, value and vacation experiences for our guests.
Established in 1959, Pleasant Travel Service was built from a vision by Ed and Lynn Hogan. Known as "Mr. Hawaii" for many years, Ed Hogan, Chairman of HH&R and founder of Pleasant Holidays, the largest tour operator serving Hawaii, was a pioneer in putting Hawaii on the map as a tourist destination and for promoting travel to the islands.
Through its hotel ownership, Pleasant Travel Service has had great success in both Hawaii and on the mainland. Their portfolio of resorts at one point included seven distinctive properties. During the late nineties, in an effort to divest with a significant profit, five resorts were sold. The remaining two, both flagship properties, the Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui and the Royal Kona Resort on Hawaii's Big Island offer continued success for the company.
Currently, HH&R manages its two flagship properties as well as the Kauai Shores Hotel, Kaanapali Ocean Inn and Lahaina Inn. The Royal Lahaina Resort has been honored by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Work" in Hawaii. HH&R takes great pride in this recognition as we strive to create a work environment that attracts and retains quality employees. We are particularly proud of the many employees who have worked with our company for decades.
